Any time signature that has a top number of 2, 3 or 4 are Simple Meters meaning that each beat can be further divided into 2 notes.
This post looks at time signatures that start with 4 (4/1, 4/2, 4/4, 4/8) where each bar/measure has 4 beats.
When listening to the beats it makes no different to me. But the bottom number denotes how much time a beat gets.
